Hamed Abdalla was a key figure in Egyptian modern art, but he left Cairo for Copenhagen in 1956. He shared interests with the CoBrA artist group, whose name CoBrA was taken from the first letters of the cities (Copenhagen, Brussels & Amsterdam) where the group’s founders lived.
Louise Bourgeois's works explore themes such as the female body, birth and breastfeeding. She frequently used the colour red to refer to the extremes of human emotions.
