If you’d like to see more spider photos & some occasional video stuff, you can find me on Instagram too! Just search for @ scienteaficc (with a double c!). Mostly spiders, occasionally plants, fungi & other wonders of the natural world 🕷🕸🌿🍄
Guys... I know this little one only has 4 legs, but look!! I’d like you all to meet Sigmund. (With Claude (top) & Coco (middle) in the first pic, and Einstein in the last pic).
First photos of the Heteropoda boiei spiderlings. Not easy to get photos of these! The only reason I could get these pics is because these little ones escaped whilst I was feeding them all so now they’re each in their own vial 🙄
Ok, here goes. MITES. Strap in, this is gonna be a long thread.
My model for today is going to be this juvenile Chromatopelma cyanopubescens. Flick to the last image to see a closeup of some mites hanging out on its chelicerae.
Today has been one of those days where a spider savvy friend with lightning reflexes would have come in handy. And by 200, I meant 300.
Visual confirmation that the S. longipes young are hunting for themselves 😁
I’m excited about these tiny friends. Hopefully I can grow them on to adult size as they are super pretty little things. Uroctea durandi... Oecobiidae family. I’ve been mildly obsessed with them since I found an Oecobius sp. in Nice!
