Sad news about John Le Carré this morning. This is the map of London that his publisher Penguin Books commissioned me to draw in 2017 (around the time A Legacy of Spies was published) that shows various characters, locations and scenes from his spy novels. https://t.co/NuXgnFcpXZ
I just realised I haven't been sharing many new projects recently, so here's a small illustrated #map of London's #Bankside neighbourhood I created for @couriermedia last month, along with some of my original preparatory sketches for the landmarks.
After that I will likely focus on maps of European capitals, a project which I've had in mind for some years. For these, I'd love to replicate the look of early c20th Baedeker maps (a style I've previously attempted to replicate here https://t.co/002lvma88E) /3
🗺️ I always wondered how a map of modern-day #Europe might look drawn in the style of an antique print, and so I created my own. Almost two years of painstaking work which was well worth the effort!

🗺️My original, detailed map of present-day #Europe was inspired by antique map prints and took almost two years to complete! Can you spot where you live?

Another detailed map of London, but a completely different kind: an original three-colour map of the modern-day city, inspired by maps which appeared in guide books such as Baedeker around the turn of the 20th century https://t.co/7ns0POXHfB
Dreaming of being back on the beach one day... 🏖 😎 My map of the beautiful Balearic Islands, #Ibiza #Formentera #Mallorca and #Menorca 👉🏻 https://t.co/PDi2MKYz39
I'm going to continue this thread by posting a different design each day.
Here's another to start the week, continuing the #Spain theme and one for Laurie Lee fans: my illustrated map of his solo journey across the country on foot in 1935-6 ☀️🚶🏻🎻🇪🇸https://t.co/9RRb4HRhLX
