Always liked this illustration by John Bauer for the story “Agneta and the Sea King”. The fact that one never gets a good look at the Sea King’s face always made that character seem kind of ominous. #FairyTaleTuesday
That being said, it isn’t uncommon for post-MGM film adaptations/interpretations of Oz to give the Witch of the West green skin. One recent example is Kriss Sison’s interpretation of her, featured in Seven Seas Entertainment’s edition of the first two Oz books.
