also partially related but not really: Kon really had a thing for centering stories around insane/delusional women? like psychosis was a big theme for him in general but specifically i can think of several stories where the crux is a woman.
this one is (so far) the final one from this year - and I uploaded it back in august, lol. i never actually finished tsushima - mainly because my PS4 broke in the summer heat and i lost a bit of progress. i'll probably go back and do it sometime.
these two were an attempt at kind of a series, like these little square animations of some martial arts forms. i love this kind of thing and i really wanna do more of them in 2021!
looking at my instagram (where i upload all these: https://t.co/RlUJJvVbdj) I was pretty productive in the first half of the year but then dropped off after august. i think cos work got more busy
speaking of Things I Posted That Did Well On Tumblr, my gemsona comes a close second. still like these! She's called Halite, which is the mineral name for salt crystals.
@SFBDim kabuterimon vibes from this! i know samurai-era japan definitely had a thing for insects (centipedes/dragonflies etc) so bug/samurai always feels like a nice fit as a design thing.
this is still just about one of my favourite drawings i've done over the last few years. i should do more stuff like this
something about how lithe he is (he's easily double dante's size) and the way he's got that kind of shiny look to him gives me proper kazuma kaneko design vibes, too (which is appropriate given that he's responsible for the Devil Trigger designs in dmc3)
side note : cavaliere angelo is one of my favourite designs in the entire game. such a great spiritual successor to the nero angelo fights too, all parrying and chunky hits. it's so fucking cool!
