Benny’s tulips have bloomed! A great math talk involving subitizing, counting on & subtraction in the garden. “I see a group of 3” “There are 4 here and 2 at this tree”. “That’s 9!” “But we planted 10!” “One is missing!” #MathIsEverywhere @HewittsCreek
Miss I brought chalk to the sandbox. Interesting techniques! J crushed it with a rock and some students used the sand sifters to grate the chalk! This process was so intriguing, we brought it indoors. (M looks like she put in a full day’s work...it was only 10am!)😄@HewittsCreek
Families: you can still send in books tomorrow. The bookstore will be open Thursday and Friday so send in the dimes! Any money raised will go towards buying something special for the class!
This morning we worked on making items for the restaurant so when it was time to play, we could all join in! @HewittsCreek @SCDSBey
What did you learn from the forest today? Great ideas, observations and understanding about their work! @SCDSB_OutdoorEd @HewittsCreek

They love creating abstract pieces and asking, “What do you see?” They are also collaborating and learning when to add more and when to stop. Communication!
We read the Blue Spruce selection, The Squiggly Story and then selected a squiggle to turn into a picture! Thanks @mswift for the tweet idea!
VanGo Clay workshop from the @MacLarenArt was terrific! We learned about cave drawings & painted our own with clay slip. Next we made a pinch pot with a lid. They look wonderful! Thank you parents & grandparents for supporting us!
