The goofy guy is a bumbling comic relief sidekick, whose character flaws present a foil for the much more put together leader, but who also often has overlooked strengths. In WSM, that role is filled by Ivan Muromets.

The Leader of my mystery solving teens is James Chaucer. As the name of the archetype implies, he's the de-facto head of our teenage mystery solving pals. James is ambitious and driven, naturally inspiring the people around him and taking charge of situations.

The school also employs a dragon as its groundskeeper - or, as he sees it, he employs the school to make magical artifacts for his horde in exchange for his protection.

Aitvarases are house spirits from Slavic Folklore, and take the form of tiny dragons whose tails are perpetually aflame. The resemblance to a certain pokemon was something I decided to play into.
