8. "Gleipnir" by Takeda Sun. One thing I like about this manga is that it took the battle royal-genre, but spared us the whole exposition part. We are just as clueless as the protagonists in this life-or-death game.
Finished my “Kyosogiga” rewatch. There should be more climatic battle scenes on the moon. They hardly disappoint. “Kyosogiga” was revolutionary in the way that it replaced the damsel in distress with an awful tsundere father who looks like a kid, if that is worth something.
I love how the first fashion model Gym Leader, Elesa, switched from high heels to flat shows in Black/White 2. Drag Queens would probably read her for filth though.
This morning I shared a volume from the Beyond Midnight Arc of “Higurashi no naku koro” on my bookshelf thread, and got so excited that I just reread the arc. Needless to say it’s fantastic. Probably my favorite art from the manga series (note: each arc has a different artist).
At the end of the year, many share their favorite manga. In my case “Hōseki no kuni” or “Beastars” would be an obvious choice. SF-classic “Toward the terra” or rising Jump star “Act-age” too. But I want to talk about another classic: Eguchi Hisashi’s manga “Stop!! Hibari-kun!”.
FLCL thread: It is difficult for me to put into words how much I love FLCL. It is significantly easier to share some trivia on the background of history and production of this anime. The themes of adolescent ennui and being fed up with one‘s environment are universal, however...
