Messing around in Clip Studio some more. The Orc in the first pic is directly referenced from a @TFiddlerArt drawing. I love they way they do line weight, muscles, highlights etc.
Then, after deducing that Agamemnon was a Torvosaurus (Edmarka) rex, I had to create a new design for T. tanneri. They’re much more accurate to real Torvosaurs with less exaggerated features. They also have more body stripes, blue eyes and a fleshy crest on their snouts.
I liked the idea that they’ve been accepted into the predator group just because of how brawny and threatening they are. A few inspirations included Rooter from LBT, Black Panthers for the spots and lava rocks.
Designing this guy was difficult. Trying to find that balance between dragon and dinosaur while also trying to make a “herbivorous” dinosaur look antagonistic. At one point I started referencing actual gargoyles and found a face I liked, and the rest came naturally.
They were the very first species I came up with a color scheme for. The red, brown and green make for a very intense and mean looking creature. Their role in the story was also going to be much larger, but they may become main characters in future installments.
These little goofballs are the children of the Camarasaurus who marched their way across the salt flats to lay their eggs in the warm cozy ash. Look at their little beaks. Must protecc.
I’m about to enter my senior year. The first two are beginning, second two are current. https://t.co/hzclSPPLJm
@Trey_Explainer I love the ones that are laying next to each other hand in hand. Like they never stopped stargazing.
Color time!! I eye drop colors from previous pages as well as ref sheets and concept art to make sure the colors are consistent between chapters. I use the same pen at the same correction to make sure I don't go outside the lines.
