Canute & King Sweyn are now in a power struggle since King Sweyn knows of Canute's plans to thwart him from the throne. King Sweyn knows what he is doing when it comes to war & the crown. Wearing the crown means power & control but also being controlled by the crown itself.
Yukimura's play on Christianity in this weeks episode of Vinland Saga was perfection. We see Canute internally struggling with God's will & ideologies claiming he must be up in heaven laughing at humans because all they do is kill one another. This also ties back into episode 15.

Thors found out what it meant to be a "true warrior" & in a way I believe Thorkell was jealous of that fact. Thorkell is an amazing fighter/warrior, but Thors was a cut above everyone else. He was respected and revered by everyone he came into contact with.
In episode 19 of Vinland Saga we learned about Thorkell's relationship to Thors & Thorfinn. Thorkell had the upmost respect for Thorfinn's father, but he didn't understand why Thors wanted to leave the Jormsvikings. I feel like for 15 years Thorkell regretted not going with Thors
