whether or not his mark is on his neck will never change that. his spirit is "fulfilled" - the smugness/teasing is a sign of confidence.

and albedo is not lacking.

he has his family (klee, alice, rhinedottir), he has his subordinates (sucrose, timaeus). he even befriended a couple knights of favonius recently, who complimented his cooking!

and... he has traveler, who he doesn't ever need to hide himself from.

traveler is, of course, concerned. not only did albedo play a prank on them and temporarily hide his mark, but now he's joking about a second topic he treated so seriously just a while earlier?

even if traveler accepts that albedo IS albedo, why is he suddenly talking like this?

going back to this conversation - we have albedo bringing up the gardening analogy again.

well, paimon doesn't want to be a gardener - too much work. but albedo thinks... maybe being a gardener isn't so bad after all.

taking life away is sad. maybe creating it is the opposite.

looking back to when albedo walked away from them - traveler was able to tell something was wrong because albedo seemed off.

"he wasn't looking his usual self" ... "why does he look so serious?" ... etc.

they were attentive to albedo himself - not only his appearance.

however, this didn't seem to be the only way traveler could distinguish between them.

after defeating "subject three" - the whopperflower boss - traveler felt that something didn't add up. despite both impostor albedos lacking neck marks, they could tell the two were different.
