This classic photo by our friend @kromerpics best decribes the career of todays featured driver and "BAD ASS" , Kenny Brightbill!
High, wide and standing on the gas!
This Pa Dutchman won 441 races in a storied career at 41 different race tracks. A Hall of Famer that won the Eastern States 200, Super Dirt Week biggies at Flemington and Nazareth National. Just name em ! Kenny Brightbill won them! A true 1 of a kind " BAD ASS" race car driver!
Kenny Brightbill
Sinking Spring, Pa.
Kenny Brightbill has raced his own way from the beginning! He built his own cars, he had a driving style like no other! And Kenny's way was very successful and Reading Fairgrounds was his own stage until the speedway closed in June ,1979!🏁
Mario, reaching speeds quick enough to put him in the 500 in a matter of a few laps with minutes left in practice hit some debris on the track laid down by Kenny Brack! Mario's car became airborne an flipped many times landing on its wheels. A cut chin and a smile Mario was ok!
In 2003 at Indy the World motorsports fan got excited and in shock an a sence of relief all in a matter of seconds. 63 year old Mario Andretti took to the Speedway to shake down a car owned by his son Michael. It's scheduled driver Tony Kanaan was healing from a crash earlier.
Talk about the "Andretti Curse" at Indy? At the awards banquet Mario received many accolades including the Buick Regal pace car ( but no keys) and Bobby was a "no show"!
Mario was so great it is a shame that he officially only has 1 win in the 1969 Indy 500 to show for it! 🏁
The 1981 Indy 500 finish shows, Bobby Unser won the event!
But for a short period in time the record shows that @MarioAndretti had actually won the event. On lap 149 recordings show that Bobby Unser illegally past race cars while exiting the pits and on track moments latter!🏁🤔
Robin Miller is a real true American "BAD ASS" in Motorsports!
A tough guy who spent much of his time celebrating Tough Guys and Girls in our sport! The landscape in our sport is changing everyday and we have to thank Robin for tending to this his entire iconic career! Prayers! https://t.co/wNHtdaG57x
2 days before before time trials the Ford experiment with Mario driving crashed hard in Turn4 and came apart with fire 🔥everywhere! A result of a broken hub. Mario received burns on his face from the car that was fastest all month. Mario was very lucky to escape this hard hit.
The month of May in 1969 at Indy did not go very smooth for @MarioAndretti even though he did win the race. When practice started Mario's team had a Colin Chapman Lotus 64! A 4 wheel drive Ford . The car was fast but showed unreliable. Most of the parts were from a F1 car design!
