I had so much fun with the Wands - Pele is one of my favorites! She embodies all the properties of this suit in her creativity, passion, and zest for life.
The final Ace in the deck is the Ace of Wands, represented here by the Magic Paintbrush. This story has had a huge influence in plenty of modern fiction -- can you name any?
Another King, this time a powerful dragon who was once a boy. His great strengths are wisdom and patience; he expertly controls the strong emotions inherent to Cups.
During my research, I came across many legends that have roots in multiple places. La Llorona, for example, is just one of hundreds of stories about ghostly women in white, but I was drawn to the sorrow inherent in Mexico's favorite specter.
Did you know: my version of Beauty and the Beast, retold in Beneath the Moon, isn't based on the European version, but a Chinese version where the beast is a fearsome dragon! What's your favorite version of this classic tale?
Do you have a favorite card from Tarot of the Divine? Keep it in mind for something special coming soon! 👀
Couple details I forgot to share from Incandescent Aria, my first MTG card! The card was going to have a buff and debuff feature, but in the end, it became only a debuff card, so this happy little backup dancer was scrapped. That's okay! He'll dance on in our hearts. 😉
I'm so excited to finally get to share the full Buffy 97 #1 cover with you all! I loved getting to do a '90s cover and decided to do an homage to The Nanny, since Fran's outfits are truly unparalleled.
So maybe my love of mermaids bleeds into the rest of my art...even when I'm supposed to be drawing fairies, I'm probably still going to add a mermaid or two.
Thinking about my water exercise today! I remake this mermaid every four years or so -- this is 2020 vs 2016!
