You can really tell the later years of the Dragon Ball manga and the DBZ anime were major influences in early promo art
Design references for Kaji.
Examon from Digimon is incredibly close when it comes to Kaji's physique, although his legs aren't correct in my head. Charizard from Pokemon does have the shape of Kaji's eyes that are in my head. As for general design for dragons, I love Skyrim's.
