A today. I'm trying a grainy, pencil-style line art with occlusion from the pencil to create depth, rather than a ton of colors.

I need to do something that pushes the forward arm up though, it's struggling.

Spent a couple of hours already trying to render material of his cape... xD I hope it looks like some kind of cloth at least a little bit and I hope that when I'll do shades and ambient occlusion it will be better 🤔

Since sprites act more like cel shaded drawings than paintings, they require a lot more colors if they want that extra detail. Especially for things like diffuse and ambient occlusion in the artistic sense.

I drafted how the level would be laid out and navigated to better understand how to implement it with Maya and Unreal. The goal was to tell the story while pacing it properly. Using bends in the paths and occlusion helped with that.

Closing in on the home stretch. Brought in proper occlusion shadows from Cycles, made the shading toonier in most places to match the thick lines, and starting to think about a background.
