The terrifying Nuckelavee plagued the Orkney Islands. With a large head, a single eye and large wide mouth, its long arms reached the ground and the torso was fused onto a horse. Although from the sea, it blighted crops, killed livestock and spread disease.

While that can easily seem strange, in parts of Britain witches were said to ride Dockleaf Stalks (in Orkney) & to sail through the air & sea in boats made from eggshells (Mainland Scotland & elsewhere). ;)

A trow is a fairy/troll associated with Orkney & The Shetland islands. Trows would kidnap musicians due their love of music. When the musician reappeared they’d often find years not hours had passed since they disappeared.
