L'hypothèse des plumes chez ces grands théropodes est née avec la découverte de Yutyrannus, décrit en 2012. Ce grand tyrannosauroïde chinois etait effectivement recouvert de plumes. Mais il vivait au Crétacé inférieur, 60 millions d'années avant le T. rex. ✏
