The two artists I thought about most in the 's Manet show were Chardin and Matisse.

Matisse loved, LOVED the French floral still-life tradition, most especially Manet.

“El camino de hierro” o “El ferrocarril” es una obra de Édouard Manet de 1873. En esta pintura del precursor de los impresionistas, podemos ver las pinceladas que se agolpan, trazos sueltos que a la distancia se transforman en figuras vivas.

One of the very best things about the Allan, Beeny & Groom late Manet show is seeing Manet riff on Chardin.

This is Manet's 1880 Peaches from ; the Chardin it recalls is this 1768 painting at the Louvre.

n summer 1874 Manet stayed with Monet, a leader of the group, at the latter's rented house in Argenteuil. One day, to start this canvas, he posed Monet's wife, Camille, and their son by a tree (top). Monet himself stoops to pick a flower nearby.
