Puzzling, because it has a Galway soundtrack that I don't like at all. (Was he copying the arcade jingles?)
Good use of sprites in the border.. and hard in a the usual 8-bit way: you can get far, but you have to practice for weeks to do it. 🤓

IDK if it's related, but SEGA giving Hotsuma a long, red flowing scarf in PS2 Shinobi seemed kind of influenced by Spawn. The whole design just kind of has that vibe, without actually copying the artstyle. The Japanese don't seem to look down on it.
