Today is 8/29/2022 in Japan time, marking the 20th anniversary of Ever17's original release.
It may not be as popular as it once was, but for me it remains one of my favorite VNs of all time, and the game that quite literally changed my life by leading me to work in localization.

Oh, let's talk about localization where gaming companies are hiring people who don't do their fucking job. Do you ever wonder why people don't like localizers. Because they would rather put their own agenda rather than, I don't know, doing their job.

watching random eps of the anime has taught me some of the japanese names for the eevees and maybe we should give localization more credit

Please, explain to me why you call her a guy when her Strive design replaced the old male symbol on her hood with a transgender symbol.
Like I genuinely would love to hear the explanation.
This isnt a localization thing, this is her design in every copy of the game

its not rep, its localization BS
its fake
Japan still calls him a boy
plus, I support the lgbt, i am bi after all
I enjoy vivzie work and hope Stolas and Blitz get together
i love Vivian (trans) from Thousand year door
Owl House was good and it annoys me what Disney did
good rep

Something weird must have happened in the localization of the Digimon game; it's one thing they constantly switch the gender they use for the same digimon; but right now they also used "she" to refer to this guy and i don't think this one was in doubt XD

That is why it's really obnoxious when you do crap like this. (Episose 5/Chapter 11) The same line by the way, nice to be consistent between your anime and manga localizations, Viz. In the original Japanese he said "Kusoyarou" meaning you're a shitty person or a bastard.

can people get mad about ACTUALLY bad localizations please

Localization at its finest

For years it was my dream to work in game localization, but never in a million years did I imagine what started as simply a desire to give more people the opportunity to experience the games I liked would actual light the spark that would make that dream a reality.

on the topic of bad localizations i wish people would stop making a big deal out of reasonable localizations that just slightly rephrase dialogue and actually make a big deal out of these localization trainwrecks

Eunie is one of the best JRPG characters I've seen in quite some time. The localization team and voice actor absolutely kill it with her. I'm always cheering when she is cutting mooks down to size!

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a good time!

Weebs should treat localizations/translations the same way the Islamic faith treats the Qurʻan outside of Arabic, as 'interpretations' and that one should strive to learn the original language.

The localization name for Forky Pig in DQ7 is a play on of the word “Fork” and the famous Looney Tunes character by the name of “Porky Pig”.

I definitely feel like I posted about this before but I can't find it so I'm posting it again

Pandemonium got such a fucking glow-up with its JP localization

The EN localization team really wrote a whole convolutedbackstory to Nael van/deus Darnus about how Eula Darnus assumed the identity of her brother Nael to explain the pronoun disparity between 1.0 and her face reveal, when "Bahamut brought her back as her true gender" works fine

These are the community localization/schema fixes from today's patch https://t.co/xsBtWmAmXj
