If you want to tell an Elseworld where Superman is evil, don't make it at the cost of Lois Lane. Make an Elseworld where Superman and Lois Lane are evil TOGETHER. That at the very least would be entertaining and maybe even hot. Just make them love each other like regular Clois.

Gotham By Gaslight, the first and one of the best Elseworlds comics they put out, as well as being one of the best Batman comics, it is also my pick for the best single issue that Mike Mignola ever did.

While not exactly a Elseworlds story, it's in that vein, "JSA: The Liberty Files" which has DC heroes re-imagined as covert super agents fighting during WW2. There's a collection, but unfortunately, it's out of print. But the issues are worth tracking down.

Every thing Chip zdarsky wrote for Spider-man. It's not a lot but his entire output is basically yes, please read it. He was definitely a good alternative during the Slott era but Spider-man lifestory is so far the best Spider-man elseworld type story.
