Got a bit of an obsession with the artwork of Chris Van Dusen - a Piglet Named Percy arrived today then realised he’s illustrated a series of books set in the same street written by the brilliant Kate DiCamillo! Also The Circus Ship is stunning.

A3 Winnie the Pooh and piglet by A A Milne
Who doesn’t need a Piglet in their life? Besides, it is such a tender book with great insight.

A1(a) George and Martha by James Marshal
George and Martha were such imperfect and boisterous characters. It amused our daughter greatly and she gained a more wholesome and realistic view of friendship from them.

Yes! Love Greenling! The Dam too, the way the shards of light slice through the images is really startling.

A2 Losing a pet is so hard! Margaret Wild and Freya Blackwood’s book, Harry and Hopper, is amazing at exploring this. A book on coming to terms with loss and finding the ability to say goodbye.

A1 I recently enjoyed Mr Scruff by Simon James. It’s about finding the right pet/owner and how the perfect match isn’t always initially obvious. I love the flow of this book

A1: As usual, there are too many to pick a favourite, but here’s a selection of the first few pet books that spring to mind (all pet dogs for some reason)

A1. I absolutely love Joey and Riley by . A beautiful story of the bond between a boy and his dog, that time nor distance can break. The illustrations are also wonderful.

I’ve used Night of the Gargoyles in Creative Writing. Beats that old SATS writing piece about the statues that move. There’s some parallels to Van Allsburg here.

A3. I like his use of three panels to deliver the story thread.

Frog normal. Single odd frog. Every frog - think it is clever sequencing of the same scene. Same with the zooming in to show the panic and puzzlement.
