sea ice is now only at its 4th lowest area on record for this date. For pregnant living near there, they've pretty much lost the option of breeding in the main SE denning areas: Kong Karls Land, Edgeøya, Barentsøya, & Hopen. It's unknown where they may go.

Almost a cause for celebration: Svalbard sea ice today is only at 2nd lowest level on record (no longer at a record low). Unfortunately for there's no ice near land so options for hunting will be minimal. As bear habitat, both ice cover & distribution matter.
