I have working on some more digital renders over the last few days. Here is Red Daisy. I have illuminated the daisy against a beautiful teal backdrop. I love the vibrancy of this render.

The white stripe that goes down the middle rounds the design up

The purple color scheme is more relaxed
while the pink color scheme stands out more with night / space backdrops (which is where she will be most)

Also, not bad for a first attempt at a space-time backdrop. It was fun to make.

I need to add more Gena art to this thread! Here she is trekking the outdoors by with an awesome stratified sandstone backdrop! Definitely reminds me of Utah!

Here's a little practice illustration I finished recently. I tried to draw more detailed backgrounds instead of a plain backdrop like I usually do.

I'm messing around with what the BG elements are gonna be for this one since I can't... paint BG's...
So I might get rid of that base, not sure if I'm really feeling it. Planning to add orchids in the backdrop 🌼✨

"It's very much a Flash Gordon backdrop, but with a roaring rampage of revenge at the center."

Troy's pick this week is SPACE BANDITS from

After doing a lot of background work for the past couple of months, I can safely say that my biggest strength is not using highlights or making a "painted" setting. It's using a single layer to painstakingly use each line to create a proper backdrop that fits the situation.

D1: I’m Jay, glad to be here again. My wip combines the brooding backdrop and muted bleakness of Ergo Proxy, the callous transhumanism of Ghost in the Shell, and the retrofuture attitude of Cyber City OEDO.
