I use for reference and to create full illustrations as well. It's great to iterate, create different angles and lighting. Also, it can give a really good base to paint over and reduce the time that you spend painting. Here some of my work to give you an idea

For "The third beep boop" I ended up just fusing 3 sketches I made into one design. One thing I like about mechanical design is that you can just go crazy with shapes. Anime stuff you can pretty much only do that with hair, eyes, and lighting.

Congrats for the milestone ! I am Emi and I love drawing characters, mostly fantasy, with either black and mysterious atmosphere or colored and ethereal lighting. But always with cool hair !

Here is a wip vs finished !

I love an artshare! ✨

I'm Veronica - I work mostly freelance, creating fantasy illustrations with a focus on characters and dramatic lighting. I also do concept work when I get the chance!

Keen to see everyone's work in this thread 😍

Really got into this one. Wasn’t gonna post till I knew I had the right colors and lighting. Quite happy with the results, even tho there ain’t nothin’ happy about the end of the world. If you’ve seen the 100, yeah you know this was a big inspiration~✨

My take on character Armani for his challenge on Instagram. Had a lot of fun with this, really wanted to push the lighting.

Swamp Thing is véry much a V book. It’s a mythic western horror, being told with such a clear and defined voice. Mike Perkins’ art just heightens the atmosphere to the nth degree with his deft rendering and lighting. Strong, strong work

Well fuck me I was working on this piece for /15+ hours/ and was never happy with the lighting so I'll just sit down and watch tutorials on good lighting.

I’m very proud of these ones! Even if the x life one is from back in October I’m still extremely proud of it and it’s lighting.

WIP. I'm still slowly fading the lines out to make it go fully lineless, but so far I like it! Sometimes practicing rendering is attempting a marble bust of your character because why not.

I am afraid of over rendering it though once I get into lighting. We'll see how it goes.
