For me it was a combination of drawing inspiration from “anime knight” designs that had a hybrid of armour and formal clothing, making stuff up as I go and drawing inspiration from an old dragon drawing I drew in 2018 😊✨

Fun fact: As I think Alphabittle is a draft horse, I took inspiration from those breeds when I was designing his parents. Mighty Spruce was inspired by the Clydesdale, while Mallow Mist’s design is based on the Ardennais horses. ^^
