“Dark Aura Ultimate Hand” in Japanese is 闘魔最終掌/Tōma Saishū Shō, with 最終/saishū meaning “final/ultimate” and 掌/shō meaning the palm of the hand. 闘魔/tōma is literally “battle demon” but the 闘/tō also probably alludes to 闘気/tōki/aura, hence the localization “Dark Aura”.

According to self-proclaimed "Mother of Sonic", Madeline Schroeder, Sonic's original design was meant to have fangs prominently featured, though this was removed during his localization process, much to the distaste of Sonic Team.

He still seems to have them every now and then.
