Today I learned that Varik from that Earthbound Halloween hack that Toby Fox made is based off a character with the same name from a old SNES Dungeon Crawler called Brandish.

Apparently Toby loves Varik's design so much he (probably) inspired Kris' Darkworld design in Deltarune.
