Little ringed plover (Charadrius dubius) and Common redshank (Tringa totanus)

I'm glad I can watch both of these species near home. Ringed plover often nests at coal mine ponds and redshank rarely nests in wetlands.

they're the largest heron in north america, and a very common visitor to wetlands! they hunt by sight & stealth alone, standing still for long periods of time as they wait for an unsuspecting fishy to swim up!
