4. Lighting and Impressionistic Backgrounds, especially around horizons and water. I've gotten so much better at just letting the colours do the work without layers and blend modes, and I find it a very freeing way to paint

i think considering some digital art techniques as cheating is stupid but drawing a basic shape, putting basic values and flat colors beneath em and just using blending modes to make it look like i rendered it, did feel like cheesing it lmao
