The Wild Hunt is a concept of pre-Christian Germanic religion that denotes ghostly riders leading a ghostly army through winter storms during the Twelve Nights of Yuletide. This concept appears across European folklore but is chiefly linked to Germanic regions of northern Europe.

WILD HUNT My favourite mythical haunting. In Celtic & Germanic folklore a furious bunch of #ghosts of the restless dead ride through the sky on their phantom horses accompanied by spectral hounds shrieking & making wild noises🎨Arbo 1872; Haynes 1874; Dore’ 1865 #hauntedhappening

Indo-Germanic comfort food … one plate represents Teutonic vision of orderliness in presentation, the other a Gangetic sense of hey, what's up with that?
My version of Scandinavian Finland.
This is my "What If Finland was part of The Scandinavia?" Her language is Germanic and close to Swedish or Norwegian languages with a bit of own.

What do you like the most about medieval Europe?
Happy to share another painting I for my worldbuilding, a concept for an East Frankish/German Knight from around 900ad.
I took inspiration from early medieval regalia, as well as a few hints of tribal Germanic influences

The Vandals lay waste to #Rome. The malevolent Emperor, who had already been killed by a mob, had infuriated the Germanics by cancelling his step-daughter's engagement to their prince in favor of his own son.

#Mythology #Mermay today is a nix! These playful water spirits come from Germanic and love music. They can often be found playing their fiddle as they dance around rivers and lakes.
In some legends they can even appear as horses and charm humans with their majesty!
