Basically I draw over the fancy model to get the simpler one. That simpler model is the one that'll be given bones, UVs, posed, etc, and it won't destroy any computers.

The lowpoly, baking, and UVs from this put such a sour taste in my mouth. I ran into so many issues that I often thought about just shelving her and running away.

After I redo her hair bow, retop is pretty much doooone! Now that I have that out of the way, after UVs I can finally start texturing.
Custom model practice! This is Ruse Rakali, a proof of concept character I designed in 2019. I wanted to make a boss that would be a chase/motorcycle level hybrid, as well as a violent looking girl mutant.
She is 582 tris and has square projection UVs. I'm very happy with it!

Progress on my character(s) for Counterpointe! Going back to fix some things based on what was said in crit today, and then it’s on to UVs + materials ✨
The body UVs are laid out. Spent a LOT of time straightening them all out to make lining up shadows slightly easier. This is something I had no idea how to do on my first revision. Still a long way to go, but one of the worst phases is over.

Been spending the day on the project part from Switching to Blender! We'll go through how to make an axe start to finish: Modeling, UVs, sculpting, texturing & shading, lighting and rendering.
Next up, Ill add runes to the blade of the axe and improve the metal shader
