anyways I want to show an example of what good UVs and seams could look like, here is a recreation of Jumbo Joshes UVs and seams that took me about an hour to do:
Doing some art stuff, gonna try to have this one done in the next few days. Just gotta finish the sculpt, retopo+uvs, texture, finish writing its short story, and possibly make the item stat block for TTRPGs, no worries, its not much... uuf

Firefly came out 20+ years ago. 10 years ago when I was still learning UV mapping and texturing I made a super low poly Firefly model and then never finished it. Now I will take the same geo/UVs/paneling I had done then and see if I can finally polish it off (WIP)
@NoContextTTO Nope, not a similar issue. Here's a comparison of what she'd look like if Panda triangulated her face the other way...
Interestingly you can see that the UVs are going to be extremely distorted regardless of which direction you go, might be a contributor to her weird texture.
