Hi, thanks for the art share. I cannot define what I mostly draw, but I draw more fanart then still life and so happen to have a small art account. Most of the time I draw cartoony stuff with a twist of fine artery, as observed in my Frisk artwork, hope you guys like them.

Cervical ribs: accessory ribs arising from the seventh cervical vertebra, occur in ~0.5% of the population, can cause thoracic outlet syndrome by compression of the brachial plexus or subclavian artery/vein

It’s easy to separate the veins on these “thick” slab images. Then, knowing that veins are septal in location, I can spatially discern a pulmonary lobule, & then identify the abnormal centrilobular structure — artery (not airway) in this case.

These two images show what I mean.

On the hunt for a decent image of lingual/facial artery branches I found this incredibly helpful image! Had to pass along to other anatomists

During transcranial resection of tuberculum sella meningiomas, it's crucial to preserve the small branching vessels originating from the superior hypophyseal artery complex & the medial aspect of the internal carotid artery supplying the optic nerve/chiasm

Another option is endovascular coiling. This involves inserting a small tube into an artery in the leg. The tube is advanced up into the artery containing the aneurysm. Coils are then released. This causes clotting of the aneurysm and prevents blood from getting into it.

While resecting olfactory groove meningiomas, I dissect the arachnoid plane between the ipsilateral optic nerve/chiasm/carotid artery & the posterior capsule of the tumor. Early ID of these structures improves the efficiency & safety of the operation.

A case I showed at yesterday’s STR Webinar:

Procedure: right subclavian-to carotid translocation for focal, severe stenosis close to origin of subclavian artery.

A transcondylar approach w/ C1 hemilaminectomy for approaching a foramen magnum The relationship between the vertebral artery and tumor is important. Most such tumors can be resected via a lateral suboccipital approach without a condylectomy.

Olfactory groove meningiomas can be resected via a bifrontal craniotomy. I prefer a pterional craniotomy, no matter how large the olfactory groove meningioma. This approach is less invasive & allows early identification of the optic nerve & carotid artery
