'Sutton Courtenay'~ Sir John Lavery, (1917)
Lavery was a good colourist - evidenced here by the cool blue tones of the shadow s on the first punt, the repetition of these and the yellow of the dress in the bridge in the background and the green depths of the water below.

@AceLewdArts Jade and Aella were born into slavery. Their folks were just combat partners at first when they were sent to a planet to take care of that was above their grade to handle and were enslaved. The two were born not to long after the purge started.
To highlight Juneteenth, I was commissioned by the New Yorker to illustrate the cover! The words of historian Mitch Kachun can resonate with all of us that day: “celebrations of the end of slavery should have three goals: to celebrate, to educate, and to agitate.”

After Pickens served as Minister to Russia, the family settled at Pickens’ forced labor farm, Edgewood, where they enslaved 276 Black people and were vocal supporters of both slavery and secession. He was made Governor three days before South Carolina seceded.

Powerful necromancer and vampire mum. Born into slavery, she escaped and becomes clanleader of the clan that took her in. She once struggled with self image, but now flurishes with confidence. Sometimes a bit too much and doesn't judge situions well
Chirolon(he/him), escaped slavery at a young age and worked very hard to become a Jedi and medic for the Republic. Got his plans ruined when someone pinned down crimes on him and got him arrested. Was kinda forced to join a secret Jedi team to get out of jail

Born in 1837 in Dover, OH, Quantrill led an unsettled, criminal life before the war, including killing a man in Mendota, IL, robbing homes, and stealing livestock. Settling in Kansas, he favored slavery once he learned he could profit by re-capturing people who had escaped it.
