Today is #RemembranceSunday when we remember the fallen of conflict from #WW1 to the present day. Among them Eric Ravilious, War Artist who was killed on active service in 1942, leaving behind a widow, Tirzah, & a young family. His work & legacy continues to inspire to this day.
'Gas Alert.' (1919) William Roberts spent two years fighting in France during WW1, first at Vimy Ridge, then Arras and Ypres. Here, he depicts a group of British soldiers; the title an ominous reminder of the impending threat they constantly faced.

A CROSS IN POTIJZE
This Armistice Day my thoughts drift back to the old Salient and the men of the Queen’s Westminster Rifles. I have spent the past months in the company of their memories. Today, amongst the other people I think of, I will remember them.

Due to how much the horror of war and violence play into Kiritsugu’s wish for peaceful world I have always found it poetic that his birthday occurs on Armistice Day the day in which all military operations in WW1 came to an end and the soldiers could finally be at peace.
