When the skeleton was first described, the tracheal cartiliage was misidentified as a dorsal (=on-the-back) fringe, which you can see in CR Knight's reconstructions of Tylosaurus in the 1899 paper & accompanying FR221 on display @AMNH (& @FieldMuseum's P15144!)

Stw 53: Homo or not Homo? Some #Melbourne #lockdown digital reconstructions from my lounge room that probably do not shed light on this question! #fossilfriday
@RgroseA @DatGreenMonstah @TetZoo People are still arguing over whether it was an invertebrate or a basal chordate (the lamprey-like reconstructions you normally see). Personally, I’m team vertebrate.
we used 3d-photo-inpainting code by @shihyang_su @jbhuang0604 to produce landscape reconstructions for our speculative narrative about the future - Floating Utopia Act 2
I loved this stream:
- Haatons who made beautiful constructions on Minecraft, you are bosses, good job!
- Little trip down memory lane for some nostalgia
- Totally YABE moments! Poor seiso idol!
- We went back in time again!
Thank you my goddess/queen🙏👑❣️

Messing around with wacky proportions and constructions but still keepin' it bara, I might be onto something here
@jasperthecrab Hello, CoffeeBlack here, I am an #illustrator mostly specializing in scientific reconstructions of prehistoric life. #paleoart #sciart #dinosaurs
Ok, I got an idea: Walking with Dinosaurs but with highly outdated Victorian reconstructions of dinosaurs and other prehistoric reptiles
#OTD 13th April 1855 Henry de la Beche died. He was a keen geologist and palaeontologist, working alongside Mary Anning. He drew one of the first Jurassic sea reconstructions, which included creatures Mary had discovered, and sold prints to financially support her later in life.
Some abelisaurs I’ve done: Llukalkan (sketch), Pycnonemosaurus (sketch), Carnotaurus and Majungasaurus (zone of the reconstructions I did for Nat Geo Magazine Oct 2020 issue) #SciArtTweetStorm #sciart #paleoart
@izykio When I read your description I remembered them, these two reconstructions were done by @/SerpenIllus, they are one of the best in my opinion
oh shit #SciArtTweetStorm uuuuuhhhh I do scientific reconstructions of extinct animals and plants. Here are a small selection from 2021 so far.

East Lothian Castles of Dirleton, Tantallon, Hailes and Dunbar. Watercolour reconstructions. #ScottishCastles #HistoryRebuilt #Watercolourpainting
I feel like my eye constructions are pretty basic but I still like how they end up looking https://t.co/xsSXfY9y8i
@MarkWitton @skeletaldrawing It'd be interesting to see how much colonial exploits imprinted on our dinosaur reconstructions, and if colonial animal art compared to artworks of local, native artists. See how perception of animals changes with culture & geography. Could be an interesting multicultural study.
I'm Jun from Malaysia, an arthropod nerd mainly interested on weird chelicerates and basal extinct taxa like radiodonts. I enjoyed making arthropod-related works through gijinkas, diagrams and reconstructions of some fossil counterparts.
