Mother is a Demon, So of course she can still die with enough damage, And doesn't like anything Holy. Nor does she mess with people like priests. As well when she takes a too much damage she will retreat deep back into her own domain at any chance she can get to heavily heal.

Metallo is if a termintor had kryptonite in his chest and was also mentally unstable. One of the best Superman villians and he isnt used that much in the comics nor in live action. Watching John Corben lose his humanity and turn into a machine would be peak storytelling.
