betraying her father and country, Theseus abandoned her in the Naxos Island, where the God of Wine, Bacchus, arrives drunk and dancing joyfully. The two fall in love at first sight. Bacchus takes Ariadne's crown and throws it to the sky, where it becomes a constellation.
my four favourite things that i've done this year
1 - no longer exists, but it burned well
2 - scythian goddess hours
3 - ariadne finds dionysus on naxos
4 - all four of them could have just been this ship.

The Winged Sphinx of Naxos. A long lost sketch (recently found) of a long lost monument depicting the winged sphinx of Naxos. Just added to https://t.co/cCNLYvALOM and https://t.co/jRtxUDR76e Perhaps it should of remained lost!😉#Sphinx #Artwork #Statues #Society6 #AncientGreece
