@one_to_read @dan_northover @rcharlesworth @OpenUni_RfP @TeresaCremin @_Reading_Rocks_ @Jo_Bowers As a kid I loved going to the comic shop with my dad. They had older comics in the basement for <50p each. These are the series I really remember. Probably wildly in appropriate age-wise (probably around 10) but loved it #OURfPBookBlether
@kat_brereton Q3. Came across The Lost Homework recently... also there is something striking in The Secret Garden about class divisions.There was a book I studied before too but I think it is banned now-Summer of my German Soldier? #OURfPBookBlether
@kat_brereton Q2. Four of my recent favourites.
#OURfPBookBlether
@kat_brereton Q1. Remember this series making an impact. First proper meeting with death in a book - up until then reading was safe, characters safe. The final image is seared into my memory. Jupiter was such a menacing villain. Think @Teacherglitter is a fan (?)

@RuddickRichard Q1: Start a class UKS2 graphic novel collection with these and you'll have the kids hooked on reading them pretty quickly. @JerryCraft @alooghobi @laufman @haleshannon #OURfPBookBlether
@RuddickRichard Q1: Some of my favourite graphic novels about sport. Most probably best suited for KS3. @JasonReynolds83 @sbosma @cathygjohn @geneluenyang #OURfPBookBlether
@mattheweduk @robin2reader Q2- These are all beautiful. Colin and Lee, Carrot and Pea is an amazing book for exploring friendship with Nursery/Reception children. Simple but perfect. #OURfPBookBlether
Jenny Colgan is one of my absolute favourite authors of adult fiction and I was beyond excited when I discovered that she has written for children, too! Her Polly and the Puffin books have been gone down a treat with LKS2 in particular! @jennycolgan #OURfPBookBlether
@gdavisreads I think the characters in this series are hugely relatable to children. The books are a lot of fun but have family relationships firmly at their heart. #OURfPBookBlether
I've seen several references to the #oldbutgold Pippi Longstocking and just need to make sure that the world knows about Mini Grey's illustrated editions, please and thank you! @Bonzetta1 #OURfPBookBlether
A1 Almost forgot this fun series, great for making links with history #OURfPBookBlether
@gdavisreads @emsreadsbooks @charlotteraby @OpenUni_RfP Never read these to a class that haven't loved them. Currently reading to my 8yo daughter and she's becoming obsessed. #OURfPBookBlether
@jonnybid @TeresaCremin @EggyHelen Some older classics and some more recent, but I love these books. Each wonderful for different reasons. I remember my year 6 teacher reading Goodnight Mister Tom and Adolphus Tips to us when I was in primary school and both were just magical experiences for me #OURfPBookBlether
@BookIslandBooks @jonnybid @catwrote I love her ‘Race to the Frozen North’. An absolutely stunning and necessary read.

@jonnybid Although well-known now due to the film, Wonder by R.J. Palacio is a great class read. Each chapter is so well crafted, giving different perspectives and prompting so many discussions. Always a winner, and now with several follow semi-sequels. #OURfPBookBlether
@SarahWeaving2 @RogMcDonald @TeresaCremin @smithsmm @jonnybid @son1bun @Jo_Bowers @Mat_at_Brookes @one_to_read @RS_Hargreaves @PaulWat5 @OpenUni_RfP Such a great choice. I love the scratchiness of the text. Think I saw one copy where it had been changed, typed. Completely different read.
Feel free to add and comment. I hope the discussion will grow overnight. #OURfPBookBlether
One of my most memorable read alouds in Y6 was based on @nicolakidsbooks and @CathyFisherArt’s ‘The Pond’. A powerful, empathetic and deeply affecting read. The children’s book talk included the themes of loss, family & the importance of the natural world.
