Who’d thought that 10 years after Breakout, bat and ball games would be massively popular again? This craze was of course due to the superb Arkanoid. This is a fab conversion of the mega-addictive original.

The Arkanoid games had a lot of good home computer versions. But you really needed mouse or paddles control for it to feel 'right.' I played a ton of Arkanoid 1 on the old C64 with Paddles. I think I've only played Arkanoid 2 on the C64 with Mouse though an emulator. Good game 👍

Championship Sprint and Super Sprint (same game, different tracks), were like Arkanoid: Took an old concept, gave it a new splash of paint, power-up's and modern game mechanics. And the result was pretty darned addictive. 👍 The thing the home ports lacked was the spinning wheel.

Not counting this for the YES/NO pile but there's a 3 game "arcade smash hits" set that has remakes of Centipede, Breakout, and Missile Command. It seems to play really well!

Breakout looks like Arkanoid, but it's just Breakout.

All three games have upgraded graphics. It's nice

I just found out that Tiki returned after 10 years in Arkanoid vs. Space Invaders (New Zealand Story Revolution 2007 ~ Arkanoid vs. Space Invaders 2017) for an otherwise bad day, this really makes me happy to figure out and has helped me find joy in an otherwise sour day! TIKI!😄

Most of my paddle gaming on the C64 was actually racing games. 😁 Revs and Le Mans were the main ones I'd play. Then a bit of Arkanoid.. but it didn't take too long to give up in frustration at that one. 😉
