Ananke from the obscure Arkanoid DS! Been far too long since I drew these skrunklies
Cyberblock Metal Orange, an Arkanoid-clone with sexy girls and one of the best FM synth soundtracks ever composed https://t.co/V7pEIJDVg2
46) Arkanoid (NES, 1986).
Pretty simple game, and very addictive.
Not much more to say. It's a classic.
@pitto @JudgeDrokk For me, sure, I may have played Arkanoid with it.
But the real reason I got it was Revs. 🏎️
That was my first racing sim, and I was straight away addicted to Formula 3 racing. Then Revs+ came out, and I now had four more tracks. Love it. 😎
@JudgeDrokk Oh yeah. I used to play Arkanoid with the old Paddle.
It gets to be a challenge when the potentiometer is starting to get a bit jumpy. (Needs some contact cleaner.) 😁
My Favourite C64 Coders No.8
David Collier
As Ocean/Imagine’s main man on the C64, Dave made some of the most-played and best-loved games of the 1980s including Arkanoid, Combat School, Green Beret, Hyper Sports, Rambo, Target Renegade, Terra Cresta & Yie Ar King Fu. Blimey.
Arcade Flyer of the Day! 👾
Title: Arkanoid
Manufacturer: Taito
Region: Japan
Year: 1986
@C64Reloaded Krakout is one that I really enjoyed.
It doesn't look as flash as Arkanoid or TRAZ. But everything is big enough, and the aiming is good enough that that annoying "last brick wait" is virtually gone. 👍 There are two mouse-enabled versions now too: 😎

@tororo5963 @nogi069 …
@upstart_rising @theretrobyte This is interesting to me as, until now, I'd thought that Arkanoid tune was its own thing. I was totally unaware of any other game having a tune that sounded like it. (But heck, in the 8-bit era, anything could be a wholesale rip-off or Jarre, Floyd, or anything else really) 😁
Nice to see I wasn't the only clown2make this mistake! Got me my 2nd bollocking from Gary Bracey at #OceanSoftware when I did the same thing 4 the music for Arkanoid for the #ZXSpectrum in 1987. Nice to see it was probably only around £200. That was nothing to them! #RetroGaming
@tha_rami Thank you! I'm workin on a block breaker (Arkanoid style) called TERROR CUBE
@JudgeDrokk I always love that Arkanoid sound.
Sure, you've got your authentic spinner. But have you played it on the C64 with paddles and that analogue jumpiness for an extra challenge? 😋
One of my favorite games of all time, Arkanoid, I wish there were more games like this Breakout type game, had the fun weapons and power ups, top game

@cbm64 @8BitShowAndTell Having the right controller can really make a game.
Arkanoid has to be mouse or paddles.
Revs and Revs+ are excellent with keyboard and paddles.
Operation Wolf is a brilliant game with mouse.
(The only thing that could be better is a light-gun.) 😎
@8BitShowAndTell Heh .. they really wanted to be taken seriously.
Rather than saying "It's perfect for Arkanoid and Operation Wolf!" ..which probably would've got more sales.
😋
ShouTime dumped Mahjong Block Jongbou 2, a sequel to the original game which featured a unique blend of Arkanoid and Mahjong
This sequel was designed for cocktail tables and features vs. mode game gameplay, with one paddle at the top, and the other at the bottom.
