Deep time memories of distant suns found sheltering in a Somerset garden - impression of an ammonite from a tropical, shallow sea, and rings that swelled with sunlight in a long forgotten tree.

We may have got a sly, covert, homophobic poem submitted for the issue. Whatever the poem might imply, it has been cast in the primordial swamp because it was very, very badly written too.

The swamp is not a peat bog..... it won't survive. Bye bye.

Marlin Howard; the man who killed a universe.

In Malcolm's universe, he was the man who murdered Diane and Thomas.
In Latch's, he destroyed the entire universe before fleeing.
He's a terrifying man, and yet everyone keeps saying he's hot like wtf guys?? XD

Finally managed to draw Latch after a little while of not being able to.

More evolutionary insights from the a new species of Mollisonia described by Aria and curator J-B. Caron. I remember seeing some of these specimens before they'd been prepared, absolutely unreal levels of appendage details revealed!

Pouring one out for the old mounts you totally forgot aren't in Dolichorhynchops, Cotylorhynchus, Paramylodon, and Eurhinodelphis.

We're taking back to the very first extinct vertebrates on exhibit at the : plaster casts of a ground sloth (Megatherium) and glyptodont (Glyptodon) on exhibit in 1871. Today, you can come see the real deal in

Awesome new paper by Joe Moysiuk and JB Caron describing the "spaceship" radiodontan from the I particularly like the discussion of feeding ecology, supported by beautiful plates of the appendages/mouth: https://t.co/g7hQl8rqFX

Cambrian ecosystems could be quite complex, with many of the hallmarks of a modern benthic community. The dioramas do a great job of showing this, with priapulids like Ottoia and Selkirkia being a major infaunal component. Second image from https://t.co/6UGECm1ICU

Today's Cambrian creatures (find them in 's new fossil hall opening this Saturday) are Ottoia (first) and Selkirkia (second). These predatory worms had vicious mouthparts covered in teeth, hooks and spines (third). Images https://t.co/ff6Sc6cqCk by

The Fossil Halls re-open this Saturday, so I want to highlight some cool invertebrates you'll find in the early life area. First is Waptia, an awesome Cambrian arthropod that's sometimes preserved with its eggs (ecr and ecl below)!

I think I remember this specimen from the old hall. It was one of my favorites in there. Still holds up.
