Mir Anees In Hyderabad :: Renowned Urdu poet known for his " Marsiya ( martyrdom )". In 1870 Nawab Tahwar Jung invited Anis to Hyderabad where he declined to be presented at the court of Mir Mahboob Ali Khan. The Nizam himself went to the Majlis where the poet was to recite.

#OnThisDay in 1757, the Battle of Plassey began in #Bengal, resulting in a victory of #British troops over the then Nawab, Siraj-ud-Daulah. The #British used much of the state’s trade revenue to strengthen their military power before gradually colonising the subcontinent.
Nawab Mehdi Nawaz Jung :: Born in 1894, Dar- ul -Shifa. He was the first commisioner of MCH. He was the founder of #Banjarahills . When Rabindranath Tagore visit Hyd in 1933, He stayed at #Banjarahills as his guest. #Mehdipatnam is named after him. He died in 1967
