there are many things i do not know about this character
is the line a hair or a goofy hat
how much of it is stylization vs just the character themselves
what i do know is this man is a 10/10 character gremlin

i cant decide if i prefer the stylization on the first or the second....
Second feels nicer to me but im gonna struggle with the rest of the hair

6. seems to like the simplified so I gave it a few renditions. has a nice glow to it, but still added type. The other three were weighted heavily toward type stylization. Losing much of the turtles but the type treatments are amazing!

my attempt at getting rid of the same face syndrom just ended up being a normal portrait :( that’s gonna be a long journey, i still have to work around stylization... but at least it turned out pretty well ! this dude really looks like you how strange

i’ve been working on drawing teeth lately👹

i struggle sometimes between wanting realism or wanting stylization, and often those ideas clash and i end up overthinking and being unhappy with the end product. These monster comms have been a big help in learning!

Something recent has been a straigth darker line to help shading for the edges, to give more stylization on shadow areas, i feel.

Out of project post

Figured I could do with some painting again.
Some stylization of shading and lights and get some muscles in there too.
Quite happy with it ^^

Hope you like it <3

You mean modern animation like this?

Making assumptions from a show from over 5 years ago isn't a good look when stylization is heavily implemented in modern animation.

I think AI art is gonna trigger a massive counter culture where artists will lean into stylization & inconsistency over realism.

I would go as far to say that purposefully messy art will be the new trend as it can better capture a human element that a machine cannot express.

Call me controversial but I’ve never been a super big fan of shintani’s DB its great but I prefer the look on one piece.

At times the more cartoony stylizations it just doesn’t make moments feel serious. I Definitely prefer when its more uniform 🤝

I think maybe what I struggle with is stylization. I can draw normal legs fine enough but I often struggle putting my ideas onto paper. They tend to just end up coming out weird. Nice drawing btw.

Probably, everything about the character's outfit down to tones and overall colour scheme doesn't scream Pako's stylization at all, I only knew because he posted saying he designed the character.

Pako loves modernizing/amplifying traditional clothing in his artworks and Tighnari… https://t.co/j7MubDGWSN

Here's the finished lineart style chibi! 🥰 It's always fun to explore different stylizations and styles apart from the one I usually do. ✨
