I really love Phylloscopus leaf warblers and have been very lucky to see many species across Europe and Asia. With increasing variety turning up with some regularity in Europe in recent years, I sketched up some notes to refresh my thoughts ahead of the Autumn.

A lot of birds like cuckoos, warblers, flycatchers, orioles, sparrows, vireos and thrushes migrate at night. Nighttime air is cooler! It is also much less turbulent and, probably most importantly, their predators like falcons or hawks are sound asleep.
