My Fave C64 Software Houses No.16

Elite

Elite released a fair bit of mediocre software, but when they hit the sweet spot, they certainly delivered. Buggy Boy, Ghosts n Goblins (both ZZAP! Gold Medals) & Ikari Warriors are excellent & Commando, Batty & Airwolf are good fun too.

That's about my assessment.
Well, Karnath was excellent fun at the time.
Entombed was great once I had the Zzap!64 maps. 😄
(I cheated to complete it .. disappointing ending.)
Blackwyche.. just didn't grab me at all. And the new Pendragon sprite was a bit naff.
Dragonskulle? Ugh.

Underwurlde was, I think, the first mega-maze game I played. And it was Sabreman, who is just adorable. I played it a ton on my friends Speccy, played it more on my C64, and then played it even more after getting the Zzap!64 map. It was beautiful in its cruelty. Up 5, fall 10. 😮

The Commodore 64 version of Chuck Rock was not - as many sites report - developed by Core Design, but instead by a small 4-people team at Italian studio Genias. Core wasn't interested in the C64 anymore, but then changed their minds when they saw it.
It got a 96% in Zzap!

Yup. That was me and Enigma Force.
I freaking loved the prequel, Shadowfire. Got Enigma Force as soon as I could. Played the heck out of it. Loved it. Then the Zzap boys saw it and went "Yeah. It's okay. I guess." 😄 (Which might not even be an unfair assessment.) 🤔
