Head Over Heels

Arguably the finest isometric arcade adventure of the 80s, Head Over Heels gained an enormous 98% ZZAP! Gold Medal in the summer of 1987. Maddeningly addictive, brilliantly original & chock-full of absorbing gameplay, it's superb.

Putting the C64 Moments list on hold to do a tribute to the outstanding human being that was Oliver Frey. A celebration of his greatest ZZAP!64 covers and the excitement, joy and wonder that they brought into the world. RIP Oli. Thanks for the pleasure you brought to millions.

My Fave C64 Coders No.22

Rowlands Brothers

Steve & John made some of the C64’s finest games in its twilight years, earning a ZZAP! Sizzler (Retrograde 94%) & 3 Gold Medals: Creatures (96%), Creatures 2 (97%) & the stunning achievement that is Mayhem in Monsterland (97%). Wow!

My Favourite C64 Coders No.25

Zach Townsend

Zach didn’t get off to a great start with Cobra, but he more than made up for it in the years that followed with 3 superb games - 2 ZZAP! Sizzlers - Platoon & Batman: The Caped Crusader - and the Gold Medal winning Batman: The Movie.

My Fave C64 Coders No.39

Martin Walker

Martin’s first C64 game was 1985's Rupert & the Toymaker’s Party. In 86 he made Chameleon & in 87 came Hunter’s Moon. He then chronicled the making of Citadel in ZZAP’s ‘Walker's Way'. All ace games. So, we can forgive Back to the Future.

My Favourite C64 Coders No.48

Peter Baron

Peter wasn’t prolific, but what he lacked in quantity, he made up for in quality. C64 Salamander is awesome, & Myth: History in the Making is one of the finest platformers of the 80s & both were massive 94% ZZAP! Sizzlers. A class act.
