Staying on the theme of Cumbria’s Neolithic sites I did dash off a quick sketch yesterday of the Giants Grave and Black Combe with my new watercolour set.

Two very different mosaic stags from Lybia and Iberia and digital images I created of them.
The Lybian one, more realistic, is an example of great craftsmanship - very few tesselae used - but I really like the Iberian one reminding me of paleolithic art.

The Neolithic Revolution, or (1st) Agricultural Revolution, spurred mankind's transition from a pre-calendar world to a post-calendar one. The technology & benefits of the 1st* calendar circle were spread, with intent, to the rest of the globe

Massive Neolithic pits have been found two miles from Stonehenge, circling the site of a large henge at Durrington Walls. They are each about 33 feet in diameter and 16 feet deep and may have indicated the boundary of the sacred site: https://t.co/nC7L2XNBKJ

“The real problem of humanity is the following: We have Paleolithic emotions, medieval institutions and godlike technology. And it is terrifically dangerous, and it is now approaching a point of crisis overall.”

So, I still have plenty of outfits to make for the Linear Pottery Culture, a very early Neolithic culture in Europe.

Neolithic people probably wore mostly leather, fur, grasses, and similar items.

We know they did make some textiles.

While many different forms of loom likely existed, the Warp Weighted is by far the most famous.

I am now warping mine for the 1st section of a Neolithic skirt!
