Mohs surgery, a technique for removing skin cancers with minimal healthy tissue using microscopy, was invented by Wisconsin surgeon Frederic E. Mohs (1910-2002). His first human operation was on June 30, 1936. The technique was used on Ronald Reagan’s nose in 1985!
